The Age of Employment Is Ending... The Age of Entrepreneurship Is Rising   At the last Abundance Summit, Stanford economist Erik Brynjolfsson warned: “We’re witnessing the fastest labor market transformation since the shift to remote work during COVID-19.”   He wasn’t exaggerating. Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, predicts AI could wipe out half of all entry-level white-collar jobs within five years, pushing unemployment as high as 20%. Already, occupations most exposed to AI have seen a 13% decline in employment.   For over a century, our schools trained kids to get jobs. Take tests. Follow directions. Earn a salary. But that world is evaporating. The future won’t reward job seekers, it will reward opportunity creators.   A World Reinvented   On my Moonshots podcast, Kevin Weil, Chief Product Officer at OpenAI, put it bluntly: “Every product, every service, every device we use today was built pre-AI. They’re all going to be reinvented.”   That reinvention is nothing less than a complete reconstruction of economic value creation.   Your MTP: The New Moat   In a world where AI automates tasks, memorized knowledge loses value. What matters most? The quality of your questions, and the purpose that drives you.   Your Massive Transformative Purpose (MTP) is no longer “corporate jargon.” It’s a survival strategy. It allows you to: Build movements and communities Attract top talent Inspire products and services Focus during hyper-growth Align people beyond politics My own MTP is simple: “To inspire and guide entrepreneurs to create a hopeful, compelling, and abundant future for humanity.”   Curiosity > Career Ladders   The “career ladder” is gone. Curiosity and adaptability now beat static career planning. The most valuable skill isn’t what you know… it’s how fast you can learn and reimagine what’s possible.   As Weil said: “AI won’t change that. It’s just going to supercharge it.” For entrepreneurs, the goal is clear: build companies that amplify human potential instead of replacing it.   Time: The Ultimate Currency   Eight billion people on Earth all have one thing in common: 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and 365 days per year. How someone uses their time determines the difference between wealth and poverty, the quality of their life.   The good news is that AI is the greatest time multiplier in history – the great equalizer. But time without direction leads to distraction, not transformation. Entrepreneurs who harness AI to give people agency and meaning will shape the future.   Star Trek or Mad Max?   We’re at a crossroads. AI can create a Star Trek future of abundance and amplified human potential—or a Mad Max wasteland where humans are obsolete.   The difference is purpose and entrepreneurship.   Those who cultivate their MTP, adopt a Curiosity Mindset, and embrace entrepreneurship will own the next economy. Those who cling to employment as it was will become economic refugees in their own careers.
