Sheeran is former Vice Chair of the World Economic Forum.[2] While there, she helped found and advance global initiatives encompassing global, regional, and industry agendas such as Grow Africa, launching new technologies and attracting over $300 million in private sector investment to end aid dependency and tackle hunger and malnutrition in Africa.

Ambassador Sheeran serves on the boards of Capital Group funds, which manages more than $2.5 trillion in global investments; Vestergaard International, which has delivered 1 billion high tech nets to prevent deaths from malaria; Lifestraw, a pioneer in access to safe water; Sceye, the world’s first stationary stratospheric vessel and the Business Council for International Understanding. She also serves on the Board of Directors, and as co-chair of the Finance & Human Resources Committee, of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), founded through a partnership between the Rockefeller Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2006 in response to a call from former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who said the time had come for African farmers to wage a “uniquely African Green Revolution.”
