Hi, I have a few questions:

   1. I understand that Kajabi’s Pro Plan allows for the creation of up to 100 products (in my case, digital tutorials). However, what if I want to create 1,000 tutorials? Is there a way to exceed the 100-product limit on the Pro Plan?

   2. Additionally, I noticed that Thinkific’s Basic Plan allows for unlimited course publishing. Does that mean I can create 10,000 unique tutorial courses (i.e., 10,000 individual products) for just $39.99/month?

   3. Aside from the credit card transaction fee (2.9% + $0.30 per successful transaction), are there any additional fees I should be aware of?

   4. Does your platform provide native video hosting, or does it rely on third-party services like YouTube?

   5. In the future, I’m considering expanding my subscription-based tutorial platform into a broader ecosystem—one where potentially millions of users can upload and sell their own tutorials or digital products. Would such a large-scale, user-generated content model be viable on your platform, perhaps through a custom plan? Or would that be considered a conflict with your business model?

To determine how much you'd pay to Thinkific for a tutoring website generating $10 million in annual revenue, we need to consider two main components: the platform's subscription fees (monthly or annual) and transaction fees. Thinkific is primarily designed for online courses, but it supports tutoring through features like live sessions (e.g., Zoom integrations for 1:1 or group coaching, webinars, and bundled sessions with courses), which are included in their paid plans without extra per-session fees beyond the plan limits.

Thinkific does not charge a percentage-based transaction fee on revenue when you use their built-in payment processor (Thinkific Payments, powered by Stripe). However, you will incur standard payment processing fees (typically 2.9% + $0.30 per successful transaction in the US/Canada, varying slightly by country and payment method like credit card vs. Buy Now Pay Later). If you opt for third-party processors like Stripe or PayPal directly, additional gateway fees apply (e.g., 5% on Basic plan, 2% on Start, 1% on Grow for the first $1M in sales, then 0% beyond that—but these can be avoided by using Thinkific Payments).

For a high-revenue tutoring site ($10M/year), you'd likely need the Grow plan ($199/month or $149/month billed annually) or Plus plan (custom pricing, often starting around $500–$1,000+/month for enterprise-scale sites with unlimited everything, dedicated support, and advanced features like SSO). The Free plan is too limited (1 course, no custom domain, branded subdomain), and Basic/Start lack scalability for $10M operations (e.g., limited admins, communities, and live events).

Estimated Payments to Thinkific

Assuming annual billing (common for cost savings) and using Thinkific Payments to avoid extra gateway fees:

  • Subscription Fees: Fixed cost, regardless of revenue.
    • Grow Plan: $149/month × 12 = $1,788/year.
    • Plus Plan: Custom, but for $10M revenue, expect $6,000–$12,000/year (based on enterprise scaling; contact Thinkific for a quote).
  • Transaction Fees to Thinkific: $0 (no platform cut on revenue; only the underlying 2.9% processing fees go to Stripe via Thinkific Payments, but these are not paid "to Thinkific"—they're standard industry charges you'd pay on any platform).
  • Total to Thinkific: Just the subscription fees, as transaction fees are processor-specific and not retained by Thinkific.
    • On Grow: $1,788/year.
    • On Plus: $6,000–$12,000/year (approximate; scales with custom needs like team size or integrations).

Additional Processing Fees (Not to Thinkific, But Relevant to Your Net)

These are deducted from each sale before funds hit your account:

  • Base: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.
  • For $10M revenue, assuming an average transaction of $100 (e.g., tutoring session packages):
    • Number of transactions: $10M ÷ $100 = 100,000.
    • Percentage portion: 2.9% × $10M = $290,000.
    • Fixed portion: $0.30 × 100,000 = $30,000.
    • Total processing: ~$320,000 (or 3.2% effective rate).
  • If using third-party gateways: Add Thinkific's gateway fee (e.g., 1% on Grow for first $1M = $10,000 extra), but switch to Thinkific Payments to eliminate this.

Taxes (e.g., sales/VAT) may apply on top (~0.5% fee if using Thinkific's tax solution for US/Canada/UK/EU students), but these are collected from buyers and remitted, not a net cost to you.

For a $10M tutoring site, the Plus plan is recommended for unlimited live sessions, multiple admins, and high-volume support. Total direct cost to Thinkific remains low (~0.02–0.12% of revenue), making it revenue-friendly compared to platforms like Teachable (which adds 5–10% transaction fees on lower plans). Check your billing dashboard or contact support@thinkific.com for a custom quote, as fees can vary by location and exact setup.
