How I Make AI Write Scripts That Sound 100% Human

Ever noticed how some YouTubers sound like they're reading straight from an AI script? Yeah, not a great look.

AI is an incredible tool for scripting—I use it daily and it's a total game-changer for video creation. But the last thing you want to do in your video is: to sound like ChatGPT.

Here are five simple prompts that transform robotic scripts into content that actually sounds like YOU—a real human who viewers want to connect with.

These work with ChatGPT or Claude (my preferred option for writing).

1. Use Spoken Language, Not Written Language 🗣️

Nobody talks like they write. When you read a script that sounds like an essay, your viewers, it smells like AI. People connect with creators who sound like actual humans they'd grab coffee with, not like they're reading from a textbook.

Written (Avoid): "Proper lighting is essential for optimal video quality and adequate subject illumination."

Spoken (Use This): "Hey guys! Lighting can make or break your video. I've shot in the dark before—trust me, it looked terrible."

Prompt to Use: "Write a YouTube script about [topic] using casual, spoken language as if I'm talking to a friend. Use contractions, simple words, and varied sentence lengths."

2. Add Your Personal Stories 📖

People don't subscribe to your channel just for information. They can get that anywhere. They come back because of YOU and your experiences. Your stories are the secret sauce that nobody else has, and they're what turn random viewers into loyal fans who feel like they know you.

Generic (Avoid): "New creators often struggle with equipment selection and content strategy."

Personal (Use This): "When I started, I recorded everything on my phone propped on books. My first video took 17 takes because I kept forgetting what to say!"

Prompt to Use: "Insert a personal story about my experience with [specific aspect of topic]. Include challenges I faced and what I learned."

3. Make It Conversational 💬

You know that feeling when someone's just talking AT you instead of WITH you? That's what happens with AI scripts. They become one-sided lectures that make viewers feel like they're back in school. When you add questions and acknowledge their thoughts, suddenly it feels like you're in the room with them.

Lecture Style (Avoid): "The following section outlines three methods for improving thumbnail click-through rates."

Conversational (Use This): "So what makes people actually click on your video? I know you've wondered this too. Have you ever uploaded something you thought would blow up, but it didn't?"

Prompt to Use: "Write a YouTube script about [topic] that includes questions directed at the viewer. Add transitions that acknowledge what they might be thinking or experiencing."

4. Natural Imperfections 🤔

Here's the thing about being too perfect—it's a dead giveaway that you're reading a script. Real people stumble. They backtrack. They change their minds mid-sentence. Those little hiccups in your delivery aren't mistakes—they're the things that make you human.

Too Perfect (Avoid): "This editing technique requires precise implementation of transitions at specific time codes."

Naturally Imperfect (Use This): "Add the transition right when—actually, let me back up a second. Sometimes I just feel out the right moment rather than trying to be super precise."

Prompt to Use: "Write a tutorial script about [topic] that includes natural speech patterns like self-corrections, brief pauses, or shifting directions mid-explanation."

5. Add Emotional Reactions 😮

Real humans have emotional reactions to things. We get excited, surprised, disappointed, or amused—and we express it! AI scripts tend to be emotionally flat, just stating facts without reactions. When you add your genuine emotional responses to what you're talking about, it sounds more human.

Emotionless (Avoid): "This new feature provides users with enhanced functionality for content creation."

With Emotion (Use This): "Guys, I literally jumped out of my chair when I saw this new feature! It's going to save us SO much time—I can't believe we've been doing it the hard way all this time!"

Prompt to Use: "Write a script about [topic] that includes my authentic emotional reactions and commentary. Include excitement, surprise, disappointment, or humor where appropriate. Make sure I'm sharing how I genuinely feel about this information."
